Iron Hill Brewery

Already celebrated as an East Coast pioneer of the microbrew movement, the team at Iron Hill was seeking to further engage customers with the creation of a combined brewery and restaurant concept. Drawing from both a modern warehouse aesthetic and the traditional structure of German beer halls, this project placed the physical process of brewing at the center of the lounge and dining experience. This ground-up build was part of a larger new urban master plan development, so our work largely focused on how to best showcase the brand and brewery within that community. In turn, we designed the lounge, patio and brewery to open directly onto the street, while an open kitchen further animates the interior. Architecturally, we drew on a material palette of contemporary masonry and metalwork, while custom artwork by a renowned graphic artist brought a sense of fun and whimsy to the otherwise industrial space.
